Painting

My work is always conceived through experience, either of a physical or digital nature. It is an organic, personal process which grows with the making of every painting as my vision and expression evolve - both within the canvas itself and outside, from the continuing influence of the world and media around me within their own tableaux. This process is how I define my work in a contemporary context - I am inspired by what is around me, what is now. In all my paintings, I try to create a sense of what it feels like be alive today with our understanding of ourselves and the world around us refracted through internet consciousness and a post-modern hyperawareness of all things and all times. Thematically, then, I am drawn to explorations of time and culture, to creating contrasts within their horizons and juxtapositions in plain view - many of my paintings transpose the modern, the digital or the vulgar onto the ancient, natural or beautiful. Below are some examples of my recent paintings.
